3 Ways To Find Work Life Balance.

While writing my first book I was bent on succeeding. I would write from sun up to sundown. I even wrote pieces of my book at work, with Post-its and half ripped pieces of paper filling my pockets each day. There’s no telling how many hours I put in working up to the completion of my first project.

However, while I thought I was doing what I needed to be great, I had a family and friends who needed me, but I was giving my all into MY FIRST BOOK Relationship Phases. I was like the ball hog of the high school team that wouldn’t make room for the small forward and center to role play their part of the of the team.

I think life is like a well-put together basketball team. Like a basketball team, our lives are divided into different parts or positions, each with their own focus. Where a team has the point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center, our lives have faith, family, work, hobbies, health, diet and so on.

If we are excluding others while focusing on one thing, we’re not playing the game right. Sure you could create a huge success for yourself at work, earn yourself piles of money. Yet, you will miss out with friends and family; they may even begin to resent you for the lack of care and companionship. Your performance becomes sporadic and inconsistent.

Rather than be oblivious to your teammates, a team with high chemistry consists of 3 Tips to ensure work, life synergy:

1. Assortment: There’s nothing wrong with a playmaker, but one player is not enough against five. Focus on the team and get others involved. A synchronized life is the definition of life chemistry. It’s only when all the pieces are in place. We have to have enough life chemistry to take on life’s challenges.

2. Space: The point guard on your team avoids stealing the role of the center or the power forward. In the same way, we cannot allow one of our focuses to consume the clock. We only win when we give each player the room it needs to contribute.

3. Pace: It is clear to see the chemistry is off when players move at their own speed apart from their teammates. If you prioritize work before your faith, family and hobbies, your team chemistry becomes out of sync, leading to problems.

Today’s Focus: The beauty of life is only realized when you find balance.

Question: Do you have any players on your “Team” that are playing out of sync? If so, what could you do to create more synergy in your life? Shoot me an email let’s talk about it.
