To be proactive is to be ahead of the curve, to think and act ahead of anticipated events; this involves using foresight. This simple practice could help you dodge a heavy workload, and improve time value. It can also be vital to crash controlling your day to day activity. Creating a blueprint for the future and for incorporating new systems, whether at work or in study can make life easier for you and others. Proactive people are the choice resources to jump start creativity and action.

PLAN in order to prevent. Proactive people plan for the future. They deviate from the “Y.O.L.O.” (You only live once) or spontaneous “In the moment” thinking and instead, look ahead and anticipate long-term repercussions. Make the future the present; think of what YOU can do today to ensure your successes tomorrow. We cannot make our decisions without truly playing it out in our mind; every decision is a step on a trail of events leading to one final conclusion. In order to make the best, rational decisions, you have to know what direction you want to go, where you are currently and lastly where you came from.

Plan to PREVENT possible failings far in advance, before they even have a chance. Try to make a habit of taking precautions and developing fallback plans; Preventing is precautionary. Exert your power to find ways to overcome and outlast obstacles. If a challenge comes about, take control and meet that challenge head on before it festers into a disaster.

Predict. Develop foresight. To become a proactive person you cannot get caught off guard, or by surprise. Find ways to anticipate problems and events. Be knowledgeable of how things work; look for patterns, recognize, regular routines, daily practices and cycles that exist around you. Do not allow yourself to become complacent. Get creative and use your imagination when anticipating future outcomes. Work on thinking of multiple scenarios and outcomes for how events could unfold. Stay on your toes.

Remember plan, prevent and predict to become proactive.
