How To Win The Next 12 Months
January 1, 2015 by Wade Townsend II

You Win the next 12 months by focusing on a small number of goals.
You Win the next 12 months by obsessing over your goals.
You Win the next 12 months by following through.

How do you stay on track? How do you keep the same level of enthusiasm on day 155 as you did on day 1?

Most people start off with a burning desire, however soon enough they are back doing the same old things.

Why?

Because they let their hunger and enthusiasm for their goals die.

If your goals don’t inspire you, you won’t be inspired to achieve them.

So let’s get back to how you can stay on track?

In order to answer this question, I will let you in and share what I have learned to do to stay on track.

I use a one year plan.

A one year plan, With one sheet of paper that includes the plans you have for the next 12 months.

I divide it into four quarters. I do this because every business they run off quarterly goals. Remain in a business state of mind to evolve in any situation.

Section 1 – Deep Winning Obsession

In this first section, I craft a short paragraph which answers the following question: If I had a magic pen or paint brush and I could paint the year of my life, what would my year look like?
Dream on dreamer.

Allow this inner obsession to be the fuel to your engine.

It’s your source of inspiration. The source you will require to push on when you feel like giving up.

Put together a winning paragraph that gets your blood pumping and energizes you.

Section 2 – Create 3 Core values

1. Value number one
2. Value number two
3. Value number three

What do you stand for? What do you represent? What the do you embody?
Write it down.

Core values keep you in alignment with who you are.

Section 3 – The Five Goals
1. Big one
2. Big two
3. Big three
4. Big four
5. Big five

What are the five goals that come to mind, and if achieved, would make the next 12 months the best year of your life?

Write them down.

Use your deep inner winning obsession as guidance.

Section 4 – Create quarterly goals that are sub goals of your big five

1. Quarter one goals (June – August)
2. Quarter two goals (September – November)
3. Quarter three goals (December-February)
4. Quarter four goals (March-May)

Under each quarter, write a sub-goal for each of your big five.
Maintain the policy that sub-goals must be achieved within the quarter they are recorded down in.
Each quarter has three months, take your annual goals and transform them into short-term goals.

After you create the one year plan, review it every single day in the morning and plan the day according to the one year plan.

Sounds simple but consistency and patience is key.

Keep reviewing and taking action.

This one year plan will serve as your blueprint. It will keep you Focused On Your Focus, driven, and motivated.

When you find yourself off track, you can review your one year plan and in turn will realign yourself with your goals.

To give you a better idea of the one year plan, below is a made-up example of what a one year plan could look like.
